Create a New Business Sponsor Matter

For each new matter you should create a Matter within MM so that you can record details about the potential/actual client. The Business Sponsor Matter type is used for preparing and having conduct of applications such as Subclass 482 Sponsorships. These instructions set out how to create a Business Sponsor Matter.

1. Select 'Create New Matter'

From the Main Toolbar, click the down-arrow next to Matters, then New Matter => Create New Matter.

2. Choose how to create the New Matter

Choose how you would like this Matter Created

  1. If the Business already exists as a Client File and you are just creating a new Matter for it, select 'Use Existing Matter'.
  2. If you need to create a new Client File and Matter for this Business, select 'Create a New Client File' => 'For a Business/Organisation'.
  3. If you would like to duplicate an existing Client File, select 'Create a New Client File by Duplicating an Existing Client File' =>For a Business/Organisation'.

For this example, we will Create a New Client File.

Click Next.

3. Select or Add a New Contact Organisation

We now need to select or add a Contact Organisation for this Client File.

3.1. Selecting an existing Contact Organisation

Type your search criteria in the Search box, then click Search.  You can then select the Contact Organisation and click Next.

3.2. Add a New Contact Organisation

Click the New Contact button.

Complete the Organisation/Business Details, then click Next.

4. Add the Main Contact Person

Select the Main Contact Person by selecting an existing Contact or adding a New Contact.

4.1. Selecting an Existing Contact

Type your search criteria in the Search box, then click Search.  You can then select the Contact Person and click Next.

4.2. Creating a New Contact person

Click the New Contact button.

Enter the Contact details for this person.  You can expand the chevrons to enter additional details such as Phone, Email etc.

Click Next.

5. Select Permissions for this Client File

We can now choose who can access this Client File and Matter, as well as details about the Client File itself.

  1. Select the Referral Source for the File.
  2. Select any Client File Tags (Example, Business Sponsor, Nomination etc).
  3. Select the Team or Office this File will belong to.
  4. Select who will have Access to this File.

Then click Next.

6. Select the Details for the Matter

Now enter the Details for this new Matter.

  • Jurisdiction. The Country this Matter belongs to.
  • Category.  The Type of case (eg Business Sponsorship, Appeal etc).
  • Type - Stream/Sub.  The Sub-stream of the above Category (eg. Standard Business Sponsorship).

Then click Next.

7. Confirm details on the Summary page

Check the details you have entered are correct, then click Finish.

The New Matter has now been created.
